Goldfish, Lump, Above Mouth

three times the amount air in a week - or also: caminar, caminar, caminar ... Un Día Sin Zapatos

That was a Week!

A week build water pipes, which sounds like nothing special at ... until I knew where. And that was only when I stood in the village of Alto Caña. The highest and especially last village of the district. The population, pure-Bugle Indians should get water pipes laid. But before this could happen, we had to first make their way ...
saw like this that we went to two students drive there by car then look no further

So Luggage shouldered by the river and

The deputies of the region (a normal poor man from the country) and his sister (in the red dress Ngöbe) we took more than 5-hour hike to the top and a remote village in the district for us.

the top, to just over 1,000 m Alto Caña was slowly emerging from the rain cloud. My pace had slowed steadily thanks to the luggage, but with the goal in mind, we are then runtergeschliddert that hill. It was also the first piece of the walk, which went downhill ... After 5 hours!

Here, in 'vicarage' of the 'chapel' of Alto Caña have the engineer and I slept for a week. Looks easy, but this mud hut offers freedom thanks to windows excellent protection against rain and wind! But it is a bit dark ...

The next day, and very different weather we have then, just behind the village early rain forest to looking for a source for tapping.

The really beautiful landscape and the dense jungle really impressed me ...

Like everything here, this idyll has its downside. You can see the other side of the previous frame. Rain forest is either cut down or burned in order to farm. The problem is a vicious circle. The forest soils are the remaining fertile land. By burning off they go stale, however, and soon ...
soon everything looks like - cut down, burned down and nothing grows anymore. Way to create a desert climate, as in parts of the country's already there - and where was 100 years ago or rain forest!

Besides all that, but I have also met once a life without running water. Since we but here in the mountains, you have to go to the river and next to the einrechnen nor the mountains with ... Thus, the daily fetching water, as does this woman straight, very tiring. I helped her to carry this 20-Literkannister in a typical Chakaras the house - that's damn exhausting!

on customizable feet I'm pushed. In the jungle with insects and snakes, perhaps dangerous, but the children, as well as the adults run with safe step over all the obstacles that would create perhaps not like us ...

load carrying is for these people anyway different. This tank, they have taken from the next village 3 hours uphill!

during which I have devoted more time with the Chakara the stones and sand from the river transport.

The locals wear So last for hours. It looks really, the bags are held on the forehead. I do not know if the 30 kg weight for years not even hurt
has for my departure on Thursday turned out cleaned the village - the first foreigner to finally see, how the traditions are. This boy has not 100% traditional painting, but a chakira cape. Today, the made of plastic beads from China, formerly with plant fibers

A last look at the panorama

A mandatory photo

And on through the midday heat to my next job, at school! According to several sources, I was the distance then been described to 3-10 hours of walking - in the end it was almost 9!

Accompanied by a guide from my village, with a very strong Bugle accent, I walked up to the gravel road and from there again a few hours to Buenos Aires View

Our projects on a larger map

The green line is my walk (about 30km) by the Panamanian summer heat of the mountains. I have so sweaty that I had salt on the skin at night and I arrived in Buenos Aires and am geplumst directly to bed.

However, not enough experience with this. After the second place with mountain air, Buenos Aires, I'm right next to another corner of the state of Veraguas. In Santa Fe (on the map to the right in an info-"i"), I have now been in the 4th Weeks given English lessons. There is a club that must be committed to the protection of orchids and, because of tourism, they also increasingly English.

So I can my Sunday for tourists and the other half working.
The area around Santa Fe is full of beautiful nature in the mountains is a national park. This weekend, I will get first provides an overview of the top. In a further annual charge sweat, I climbed the Cerro Tute.

From there you can see the whole area very well and how it let's do, I could see from here in every direction burning hill. As are all about and I've probably talked too much, I must be still well and realize that you can do nothing else. In the coming weeks I'm going to keep a busy schedule and always go straight from school there, so that I can also tell something from the National Park! :)
This coming weekend the group of mobile physicians under which the nurse is paid by the third world county Panama, supported by a group of American doctors with medical equipment and the health problems of a village to help . Come I will be there from Saturday to Wednesday and go over a week to be separated from civilization - with joy! :)

So, that's it once more from me. This post is due to the slow Internet connection again take hours ...

course I am delighted with feedback, comments, or suggestions! :)

your Niklas
