Goldfish, Lump, Above Mouth

three times the amount air in a week - or also: caminar, caminar, caminar ... Un Día Sin Zapatos

That was a Week!

A week build water pipes, which sounds like nothing special at ... until I knew where. And that was only when I stood in the village of Alto Caña. The highest and especially last village of the district. The population, pure-Bugle Indians should get water pipes laid. But before this could happen, we had to first make their way ...
saw like this that we went to two students drive there by car then look no further

So Luggage shouldered by the river and

The deputies of the region (a normal poor man from the country) and his sister (in the red dress Ngöbe) we took more than 5-hour hike to the top and a remote village in the district for us.

the top, to just over 1,000 m Alto Caña was slowly emerging from the rain cloud. My pace had slowed steadily thanks to the luggage, but with the goal in mind, we are then runtergeschliddert that hill. It was also the first piece of the walk, which went downhill ... After 5 hours!

Here, in 'vicarage' of the 'chapel' of Alto Caña have the engineer and I slept for a week. Looks easy, but this mud hut offers freedom thanks to windows excellent protection against rain and wind! But it is a bit dark ...

The next day, and very different weather we have then, just behind the village early rain forest to looking for a source for tapping.

The really beautiful landscape and the dense jungle really impressed me ...

Like everything here, this idyll has its downside. You can see the other side of the previous frame. Rain forest is either cut down or burned in order to farm. The problem is a vicious circle. The forest soils are the remaining fertile land. By burning off they go stale, however, and soon ...
soon everything looks like - cut down, burned down and nothing grows anymore. Way to create a desert climate, as in parts of the country's already there - and where was 100 years ago or rain forest!

Besides all that, but I have also met once a life without running water. Since we but here in the mountains, you have to go to the river and next to the einrechnen nor the mountains with ... Thus, the daily fetching water, as does this woman straight, very tiring. I helped her to carry this 20-Literkannister in a typical Chakaras the house - that's damn exhausting!

on customizable feet I'm pushed. In the jungle with insects and snakes, perhaps dangerous, but the children, as well as the adults run with safe step over all the obstacles that would create perhaps not like us ...

load carrying is for these people anyway different. This tank, they have taken from the next village 3 hours uphill!

during which I have devoted more time with the Chakara the stones and sand from the river transport.

The locals wear So last for hours. It looks really, the bags are held on the forehead. I do not know if the 30 kg weight for years not even hurt
has for my departure on Thursday turned out cleaned the village - the first foreigner to finally see, how the traditions are. This boy has not 100% traditional painting, but a chakira cape. Today, the made of plastic beads from China, formerly with plant fibers

A last look at the panorama

A mandatory photo

And on through the midday heat to my next job, at school! According to several sources, I was the distance then been described to 3-10 hours of walking - in the end it was almost 9!

Accompanied by a guide from my village, with a very strong Bugle accent, I walked up to the gravel road and from there again a few hours to Buenos Aires View

Our projects on a larger map

The green line is my walk (about 30km) by the Panamanian summer heat of the mountains. I have so sweaty that I had salt on the skin at night and I arrived in Buenos Aires and am geplumst directly to bed.

However, not enough experience with this. After the second place with mountain air, Buenos Aires, I'm right next to another corner of the state of Veraguas. In Santa Fe (on the map to the right in an info-"i"), I have now been in the 4th Weeks given English lessons. There is a club that must be committed to the protection of orchids and, because of tourism, they also increasingly English.

So I can my Sunday for tourists and the other half working.
The area around Santa Fe is full of beautiful nature in the mountains is a national park. This weekend, I will get first provides an overview of the top. In a further annual charge sweat, I climbed the Cerro Tute.

From there you can see the whole area very well and how it let's do, I could see from here in every direction burning hill. As are all about and I've probably talked too much, I must be still well and realize that you can do nothing else. In the coming weeks I'm going to keep a busy schedule and always go straight from school there, so that I can also tell something from the National Park! :)
This coming weekend the group of mobile physicians under which the nurse is paid by the third world county Panama, supported by a group of American doctors with medical equipment and the health problems of a village to help . Come I will be there from Saturday to Wednesday and go over a week to be separated from civilization - with joy! :)

So, that's it once more from me. This post is due to the slow Internet connection again take hours ...

course I am delighted with feedback, comments, or suggestions! :)

What Is The Sensation Of Hot Spots

many adventures, many new!

¡Hola!

Now I can already hear nothing for three weeks by myself and in time a lot has happened. Above all, much alone, but I notice now. I was with another group of Americans (this time much better organized) in the wide of the Panamanian Jungels, I've organized another English project, and I have climbed the highest mountain in Panama, the Baru Volcano.
Because I've heard that too much text is sometimes just too much of a good , I will once again make a photo album-like entry. ¡Por ahí vamos pues!

only at the week "Medical Brigade (~ hiking GP) in the village Guabal, right in the middle of the jungle, is behind a national park. This was for 10 years, no local medical care! This is so far the furthest I've made through the mountains towards the Caribbean coast ... can see
To Photos (by others) is here and then purchasable above under "More" in photographs that appear then, where they made were:

Our projects on a larger map

On the way through the jungle. A total of 6 off-road vehicle trucks

The school in Guabal - End the world? No, a few miles more arduous path is already the Caribbean!

The crew of the recording after the first day. I (left, green) could help a lot in translation)

Maggi ...

Beautiful nature and the river Calovébora

hibiscus and other plants throughout

Germany! How to get something out here? With relief supplies. Therefore, one can see baseball caps from the Boston Red Sox right in the jungle of Panama

The crowd was huge

Among other things, also distributed toys

My first time washing in a river. She felt very indigenous. The whole life, bathing, washing, recreation play here from the river - the most exciting place in the village ...

A frog in a drug case - unfortunately the only we have seen in a week ...

The climbing-hiking fever has gripped me and I am so far in the hills until I was stopped the jungle.
learned this week was quite eventful and I'm translating in both English and English to some, also I can now measure blood pressure and blood sugar control. I've talked with some patients and heard that some are running up to 3 days to get medical care! One family had run a day just to get something against parasites. Parasites, in most cases, tapeworms are the most common absolutely hygienic and medical problem in the mountains. Drinking water is not clean and there is drinking any water, also has a kind of pretty much any parasites. We have each of the approximately 1,000 patients given parasite agents that protect the body against attack for a long time.
On Friday, the week I'm back from the jungle in the dry region of Buenos Aires, where I trained. No stop at home, but I had fairly clean laundry from the river :-)

Last week on Thursday and Friday, Easter. Yes, something different is - why? No idea. But that meant for me that I even finally have a weekend off. As mentioned in one of the last Panama More information is available, We are not tourists here, we have a work week from Monday to Friday, I to Saturday. The free time we draw but in this case to its full potential from - I do not want that this sounds like we were always traveling ... :-P
any event, this weekend for one of my major projects was provided for small - the ascent of the Baru Volcano, the highest mountain in Panama.
the alien dominated Boquete - there is also German! - I'm going on Saturday at 5 clock in the morning ...

Ver mapa más grande / larger map

... for me to enjoy this sight. A covered with shallow volcanic clouds

13,5 km - a no brainer! Hmm ... Not really, we are talking about a difference in altitude of 2700 m and a pretty rocky slopes. Did I mention the pitch?

It has not long time to me was the sweat on his forehead. After one hour.
And Mom, I had the plug not not all the time in the ears - but it was interesting to hear too much! ;-)
the legendary quetzal unfortunately I have not seen and must take such a photo from the Internet ... (
The bird is in the Mayan culture very big

These giant trees were full of birds of all kinds

One of the seven or eight 'crater' of the volcano. As shown it since year Hunt Erten no volcanic activity has more (about the 7th century, according to lonely planet), but there is no danger.

From the 3,000 m mark, it was difficult to rise - the air is thinner

Once at the top! The exertions of the climb you can see me not to - all good! :) Unfortunately, on the Atlantic side were too many clouds, so that I could only get a glimpse of the Pacific, even before disappearing into clouds.

This is the tip. This is what one is no volcanic peak, as I found out that Cone is several times abegesackt. Now the highest point of this summit, in a basin. On the map you can get a slight idea of it.

Here we see one side of the volcano crater. The view was just spectacular and the dimensions are unimaginable ...

From the wonderful world of plants I have also made many photos
on Facebook there are more! Click here for the album

The descent of slightly more than 3 hours was horrible! I feel huge blisters on the feet and the height difference was also good ... Once in the hostel I've indulged in the longest straight hot shower of my life and then after a German beer by the river I fell into bed dead.
Thanks to the migration of Panamanians like traveling on the free weekend was the return journey quite long and I've written a little longer on the blog. Tomorrow we will get out early, and indeed in the vicinity of the carpentry in La Mesa. In Subi Arriba we will help in the next week to lay water pipes.

¡Hasta luego

!
